Is Friday Really LIT?

Is Friday Really LIT?

My people them..

Welcome back to another blog post.

I listened to a very interesting podcast by Gary Vaynerchuk explaining how much he hates Fridays which made me think differently about my Friday’s going forward.

This could be quite controversial as others may not understand/agree with my views and that’s ok, but if I have one person understand I’ve made a difference just as Gary done with me.

He said something quite interesting which had me thinking

Quote from Gary Vaynerchuk – I f***ing hate Friday blog post on ‘Medium’

‘Friday cannot be the best day of the week, because if it is, you’ve already lost and you need to figure out how to fix that. Whether that’s your side hustle from 7 p.m. to midnight, or whether that’s networking from 7 to 9 p.m. with other job opportunities, and whether that’s taking a financial step backwards to take a job that you love that you can grow up into, please do not waste the next 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 years of your life and allocate 30, 40, 50, 60% of your time to doing something that you actually hate’

I could be wrong, but it almost feels like it’s been installed in our brains to celebrate the weekend since…. forever.

Even if you work over the weekends, some individuals enjoy before or after work activities which allows them to still enjoy their weekend to the fullest.

Regardless of your working pattern, Friday has taken pole position to be the favourite day of the week.

I’m sure you’ve heard the following quotes:

  1. ‘Thank God it’s Friday’
  2. ‘Finally the weekend is here’
  3. ‘Weekend turn up’

I’m sorry; but why don’t we partake in turning up on Tuesday’s or Thursday’s?

Heck, why don’t we celebrate Monday’s just because?

Moral to the story, majority of us enjoy our weekend regardless of our working patterns or responsibilities and find the time to party away our issues and moan on Sunday knowing our fun filled weekend is coming to an end.

I’m guilty of using Friday’s as a release to not focus on my job which I know is not my final destination.

I’ve used Friday’s as my stress reliever, to catch up with friends when life gets a bit to real…. and sadly, I used Friday as a break from executing my goals as I felt working on it every day after work was ENOUGH.

Well guess what, it’s not ENOUGH!!

Why am I celebrating freedom for two days, to only go back to work on Monday to do the same dead work all over again?

I’m basically being bribed to execute my companies goals whilst mine are still in thin air, whilst I work on my own goals at night when my CEO is snoring away because muggings over here will get the job done at a small fee –  Charming!

If you have your life in order and you’re happy with your career/job then celebrate your Fridays to the fullest, in fact celebrate your life.

I’m proud of you!!

This post is for everyone celebrating the weekend, crying that they need more money, saying they want/ need change but has the cheek to moan when they haven’t done anything or do very little to change their lifestyle.

The people who get to me the most are those on snapchat saying;

‘My weekend was a movie’ and foolishly add ‘camcorder’ emoji’s…. wow, you’re really doing the most lol.

What movie do you speak of when you cry to your friends and family that you’re not happy about life??

Social media will be the death of us because we shoot our selves in the foot, pretending to be happy for views, likes and popularity – these times your life is a mess.

STOP  tip-toing about your future and  make changes so your WEEKDAYS and weekends can be an actual movie.

Please be consistent with your future for it to blossom into something beautiful, you’ll have bad days but it will be worth it in the end.

Lets not use Friday as an escape to side track us from our goals.

That’s what society want us to do, they want us to spend the little money we have to rely on loans and credit cards, put us in debt and be stuck in a JOB to pay it back.

Let’s take our money and invest in OURSELVES, our future depends on us and ONLY us to be great and do big tings.

I know some of you are reading this with the most confused face ever thinking; ‘What the hell is Clo on about….’Friday Is TURN UP DAY, why is she cancelling my weekend.

I’m defiantly not trying to cancel your weekend peeps lol – I’m about to turn up this weekend with my girls Sade and Jummy at our slumber party, drink wine, make cringeworthy snaps and skin’ teeth brighter than Rihanna’s Trophy wife Highlighter.

I just want you to strive for the best regardless of your bad week/weekend at work, or when you’re feeling stressed about life.

Put that negative emotion into building your brand and being your own boss or whatever career makes you happy.

That frustration will help push you to the next level, it may not make sense now but set backs and discouragement will help you get to where you need to be in life.

Those negative factors will allow you to prove your haters wrong and shine even brighter on your come up.

So please, before you celebrate the end of the week, ask yourself a few questions:

  1. What am I celebrating? (I don’t want to hear ‘God’s has made me see another day’ so did he give you another day to moan about life? if you didn’t notice, he gave you a brain to make money moves and you’re abusing it. Be thankful you have another day to make POSITIVE changes in your life… don’t waste it)
  2. Have I worked on myself enough this week?
  3. Am I happy with my career/job right now?

Please enjoy LIFE but never complain on Sunday’s when your weekend fun is over.

Lets all get to stage in our lives to enjoy every day of the week and turn up on Mondays because we can.

To leave you with some Friday Finesse quotes, check out my favourite quotes by Mr Vaynerchuk  himself:

“Ideas are worthless without the execution; execution is pointless without the ideas”

“I put zero weight into anyone’s opinion about me because I know exactly who I am”

“Your legacy is being written by yourself. Make the right decisions”

“You have to understand your own personal DNA. Don’t do things because I do them or Steve Jobs or Mark Cuban tried it. You need to know your personal brand and stay true to it”

Thanks for taking the time out on your Friday to read my blog.

I appreciate you.
