8 Days of Blogmas: Crimbo Hot Chocolate

Hey readers,

Welcome back to day 3 of my blogmas posts.

I know i’m a day late, but life got busssyyyyy *Covers face*

Today’s post is quite late as I want you all in the kitchen after reading this to make one of these legendary hot chocolate recipes.

I’m not a massive fan of chocolate (please don’t come for me) but I do love a good hot chocolate with all the trimmings.

I’ve got some killer ideas for everyone to try over the christmas holidays, so lets get started.

1- S’mores Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups milk (Any kind / dairy-free for my vegan G’s)
  • 1.5 Tbsp of cocoa powder of your choice
  • 1 Tbsp light chocolate syrup (Optional)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar or sweetener (As desired if you have a sweet tooth)
  • 1 McVities digestives biscuit (crushed for lining rim for extra crunch)
  • A handful for mini marshmallows (The big ones won’t cut it)
Directions
  1. Preheat oven on 150° (130° if fan assisted)  and move oven rack to the second from the top (high enough up to bake your marshmallows). Place baking sheet on rack.
  2. Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through, try not to burn your milk guys this will spoil the milk texture.
  3. Add cocoa powder, sugar/sweetener and whisk vigorously until thoroughly combined. (Tbh, use a milk frother for extra ye, the wisk for me is to much hand power)
  4. Take a few marshmallows and rub them around the top of your mugs so the digestive biscuits will stick.
  5. Dip mug into McVities digestive crumbs until well lined.
  6. Pour in hot chocolate and top with your marshmallows, carefully place your mug on the baking sheet in the oven and broil marshmallows until browned. *Please watch your hot chocolate carefully to avoid the marshmallows from burning, if you let them burn issa fail*
  7. Carefully remove your S’mores hot chocolate from the oven with a tea towel.
  8. Top with a drizzle of chocolate syrup (Optional)

Wa-la… enjoy 🙂

2- Lavender Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1 cups whole milk (Any kind / dairy-free for my vegan G’s)
  • 1 Tbsp of dried lavender
  • 1.5 Tbsp of cocoa powder of your choice (more or less to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (more or less to taste)
  • Toasted Marshmallows (optional for garnish but needed in my opinion)

Directions:

  1. Add milk to a medium saucepan, add in the lavender, set over medium heat and bring just to heavy simmer.
  2. Remove from the heat and steep for about 10 minutes (or longer for a stronger lavender flavour)
  3. Return saucepan to heat; whisk in the hot chocolate mix (I use a frother instead) and remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Stain out your cooked lavender with a sieve into a jug, and pour your lavender coco into your desired mug.
  5. Top with toasted marshmallows (Optional but Ci approved)

3- Baileys Irish Cream Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 2 cap full of Baileys (I usually pour 4 for an extra kick)
  • 1 cups whole milk (Any kind / dairy-free for my vegan G’s)
  • 1.5 Tbsp of cocoa powder of your choice (more or less to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar or sweetener (As desired if you have a sweet tooth)

Directions

  1. Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through, try not to burn your milk.
  2. Add cocoa powder, sugar/sweetener and whisk vigorously until thoroughly combined.
  3. Pour two caps of Baileys into your mixture an turn off the heat and froth the mixture for extra frothiness.
  4. Now pour your boozy hot chocolate into your desired mug – Enjoy

4- Red Velvet Hot Chocolate

For the whipped cream:

  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream

  3. Stir in the food coloring and the vanilla
  4. Whip the cream with the sugar and vanilla (Or use pre-made whipped cream)

5- Cookies and Cream Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  1. 3 Oreo cookies
  2. Whipped cream for garnish (optional)
  3. Additional crushed oreos for garnish (optional)
  4. 1 cups whole milk (Any kind / dairy-free for my vegan G’s)
  5. 1.5 Tbsp of cocoa powder of your choice (more or less to taste)
